Chag Sameach to SA’s Jewish Community


Cape town: President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his wishes to South Africa’s Jewish community, marking the occasion of Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur, which is considered the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, was observed on Thursday.



According to South African Government News Agency, President Ramaphosa expressed his hopes for peace, reflection, and renewal for the Jewish community both in South Africa and worldwide. In his message, he conveyed wishes for a year filled with life and good health. President Ramaphosa also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration to improve the country and the world, aligning with the Jewish concept of tikkun olam, which is the mission to repair the world.



The President’s message comes as Jewish communities across the globe participate in this significant day of atonement and reflection. Yom Kippur involves fasting and prayer, serving as a time for introspection and seeking forgiveness. President Ramaphosa’s remarks highlight the importance of this period for the Jewish community and underline a message of hope and solidarity.
