Five suspects arrested as police continue to restore law and order in Carletonville

PARKTOWN: Police have arrested five suspects aged between 49 and 59 in the West Rand in the early hours of Monday, 11 March 2019. The suspects were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation and they will be charged with intimidation.

Police management in Gauteng have applauded the team that worked tirelessly to arrest the suspects. Police have also assured residents of West Rand that the multi-disciplinary deployment will remain in the area to combat crime and bring an end to the instability in the area.

Protesters have the right to air their grievances and concerns but that should be conducted within the parameters of the law. If criminality is reported and the rights of innocent people are infringed on, police will not hesitate to act and the perpetrators will face the full might of the law.

Community is urged to report any form of crime and any activities that disturb their peace and destroy properties.

The arrested suspects will be appearing at Carletonville Magistrates’ Court in due course.
