Constable Lonwabo Soga to be laid to rest tomorrow

EASTERN CAPE – Constable Lonwabo Soga who was fatally wounded at Zidindi Loc, Coffee Bay on the 3 December 2019 at about 23:30 will be laid to rest tomorrow, 14 December 2019.

Our fallen hero was fatally shot whilst on duty. Const Soga and his van crew were approached by a group of about 4 suspects pretending to need police assistance. They stopped the vehicle and several shots were fired at the police vehicle, killing him instantly.

Cst Soga was attached to SAPS Coffee Bay and was a committed and dedicated police officer who was always willing to learn.

The funeral service will take place as follows:

Place: Bhongweni Location, Mthatha

Time: 09:00

The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele and the Eastern Cape Premier, Mr Lubabalo Mabuyane are expected to attend the funeral with the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga and other SAPS Senior Managers, members and employees.

Media is invited to attend the funeral but urged to respect the wishes of the bereaved family. An opportunity for interviews will be afforded.
