Postmasburg SAPS award centenary medals to members

NORTHERN CAPE – During an auspicious event held today, 08 December 2020, the Mayor of Tsantsabane Local Municipality, Ms Mpho Mashila and the Acting Cluster Commander of ZF Mgcawu cluster, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar awarded Centenary medals to 37 members and certificates of appreciation to 70 personnel members of the Postmasburg police station.
In his address, Brigadier Besnaar thanked the members for their support and services rendered during the COVID-19 pandemic. He thanked the members for placing their lives at risk as frontline workers during this these trying times and also paid tribute to the members at the station who died due to COVID-19.
The Mayor, Ms Mashila commended the Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Andries Witbooi who was one of the medal recipients for his dedication and commitment in running the police station. She also thanked the members for supporting and remaining committed and dedicated during the pandemic. She also wished the members well for the festive season as they will be protecting and combating crime while community members are celebrating with their families. She also thanked all the external role players for the integrated actions they participate in, in addressing the crime situation in Postmasburg.
After conclusion of the Medal Parade, the Mayor and her entourage proceeded to the static roadblock that was conducted on R385 national between Postmasburg and Kathu.
The roadblock formed part of the Postmasburg Safer Festive Season operations during which law and order will be vigorously enforced.
The Acting Cluster Commander, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar and the Mayor engaged with motorists and distributed pamphlets and safety packs consisting of masks and first aid kits which were sponsored by Kolomela Mine.
External departments also attended the event and participated in the roadblock.
