Sentenced for rape in Galeshewe

GALESHEWE- A good sentence was received for House breaking and Rape, in the Galeshewe Regional Court, recently. On 29 August 2017 the 24-year-old female victim was sleeping in her shanty when the accused broke down the door and raped her, before fleeing the scene. The accused, Victor Tshepo Maputle (27) was arrested on the same day at 145 and appeared in court for first appearance on 30 August 2017.

On 06 November 2019, Maputle was found guilty on both charges and received 12 years’ imprisonment.

Lieutenant Colonel Marli Strydom, the Unit Commander of Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit, applauded the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Simphiwe Mdunge, for a well investigated case. The detectives’ continuous hard work resulted in the conviction of yet another perpetrator, said Strydom.
