South Africa: 24-Year-Old Gets 25 Years Imprisonment for Four Counts of Rape

A 24-year-old Obakeng Mosito was sentenced by the Mogwase Regional Court to 25 years imprisonment for four counts of rape on Wednesday, 21 September 2016.

The accused was arrested after he raped victims aged between 20 and 30. In all four cases, he attacked the victims during the night and raped them while wearing a balaclava. The offences were committed between 2009 and 2015 in the area of Moruleng. One of the victims sustained a serious head injury which left her semi paralysed after the accused hit her with a sharp object. At the time of his arrest, two of the victims had passed away. The accused was found guilty on four counts of rape after a thorough investigation by police and subsequent arrest through DNA linkage.
