Man arrested for alleged drug possession at Oranjemund

A 36-year-old man was arrested on Friday after he was allegedly found in possession of drugs valued at N.dollars 7 000 at Oranjemund.

A weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday indicated that the suspect was arrested around 11h00 in Swartkop Road during a police operation conducted at a mini roadblock.

He was allegedly found in possession of four bags of cannabis of various sizes.

In a separate incident, 60-year-old Kasiringua Uapakua died on Saturday after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving on the Otjituuo/Okamatapati C47 gravel road in the Otjozondjupa Region.

The accident occurred around 11h40 and Uapakua was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

“The vehicle left the road and rolled three times before it came to a standstill. The deceased sustained multiple injuries, including head injuries, and was transported to the Otjituuo state clinic where he succumbed to his injuries,” the report read.

Police investigations in both matters continue.
