South Africa and United Kingdom to Sign MoU on Infrastructure Collaboration


London: The Governments of the Republic of South Africa and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, focusing on infrastructure collaboration. This agreement aims to create a strategic framework for accelerating infrastructure delivery and optimizing public asset use in South Africa to promote economic growth and development, as stated by the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.



According to South African Government News Agency, the MoU signing will occur in London, with Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson and Sir Chris Bryant, Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade in the UK, officiating the ceremony. The department outlined that the collaboration’s objectives include fast-tracking high-impact infrastructure projects in South Africa, optimizing the utilization of State-owned assets for public benefit, and enhancing local capabilities by sharing international expertise. The agreement also focuses on providing technical assistance and improving infrastructure planning and implementation at the municipal level in specific areas of focus.
