North West Treasury Warns of Fraudulent Tender Award Communications

Mahikeng: The North West Provincial Treasury has issued a crucial alert regarding a series of misleading messages currently circulating, falsely claiming that a tender has been awarded by the department.

According to South African Government News Agency, individuals and businesses have been receiving communications about the alleged awarding of a tender identified as 'BID NWP002/25'. This tender pertains to the supply and delivery of cleaning chemicals to the North West Provincial Government over a three-year period. The messages are purportedly originating from the Head of Department, but the Provincial Treasury has firmly refuted these claims, labeling them as fraudulent and misleading.

In an official statement, the department clarified, "The Head of Department is not involved in any procurement or bidding processes, including the awarding of tenders. All official procurement processes are conducted in accordance with established Supply Chain Management policies, and any communication relating to bids or awards is issued through formal and verifiable departmental channels only."

The department has urged the public, service providers, and stakeholders to disregard such deceptive messages and to avoid sharing any personal or financial information. They also encouraged recipients of suspicious communications to report them to law enforcement authorities promptly.

The department confirmed that the tender for the supply and delivery of cleaning materials had been advertised and is now closed. The adjudication processes will proceed according to legislated procedures. Stakeholders seeking to verify any tender-related information are advised to reach out to the department through its official communication platforms.
