Seven Houses Handed Over to Military Veterans in Matlosana

Matlosana: Seven houses were officially handed over to military veterans in a ceremony organized by the Department of Human Settlements in partnership with the City of Matlosana.

According to South African Government News Agency, the event commenced with a briefing session in the City Council Committee Room, where Executive Mayor Fikile Mahlophe welcomed delegates, stakeholders, and beneficiaries. He noted the ceremony as a testament to the collaborative efforts of different government levels in restoring the dignity of those who fought for the nation's freedom.

MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Gaoage Molapisi, expressed the department's dedication to prioritizing housing for military veterans. He emphasized the importance of intergovernmental cooperation to expedite housing delivery for this group.

Acting Speaker of Council, Lebohang Itebogeng, also highlighted the need for ongoing collaboration between government entities to ensure sustainable service delivery. After the briefing, attendees moved to Jouberton Extensions 31 and 34, where the houses were handed over to the veterans.

The initiative is part of the Military Veterans Housing Programme, which seeks to provide adequate housing for qualifying military veterans throughout the North West Province.
