Zikalala to Address 2nd National Contractor Development Roadshow

Kimberly: Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala is set to address the 2nd National Contractor Development roadshow in the Northern Cape.

According to South African Government News Agency, the roadshow aims to support emerging contractors in overcoming the limitations of lower level Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) grading by offering business growth opportunities, funding, mentorship, and skills development. The initiative seeks to address ongoing concerns that many contractors remain within the 1 to 4 CIDB grading, thereby restricting their ability to participate in lucrative multi-million-rand construction projects.

The roadshow is a nationwide effort designed to reach different parts of the country, ensuring inclusivity for all contractors. Led by Deputy Minister Zikalala, the National Contractor Development roadshow serves as a significant effort to enhance contractor development across South Africa.

This campaign aims to promote economic transformation by engaging contractors across all nine CIDB grades, establishing a framework for meaningful and lasting change within the construction sector. In collaboration with the board, client departments, and development agencies, the roadshow aims to deliver opportunities directly to contractors, regardless of their location in rural or urban areas.
